Oman – ‘Real Arabia’ ?

In September 2013, I was taken over to Oman, somewhere I’ve never visited before, to view a small selection of Hotels and experience what many describe as the ‘Real Arabia’.

Far less commercialised and ‘built up’ than its more well known Middle East rivals, namely Dubai & Abu Dhabi, Oman exudes a quiet charm and peace, and was alltogether quite a surprising find.  The last 30 years has seen the country guided and developed in a much more sympathetic fashion than Dubai, and has prospered well under its current Sultan.

Hotels such as the renowned Chedi, the Al Bustan, and the Shangri La Bar al Jussah resort, and the simply stunning Six Senses Zighy Bay, provide some exceptional places to stay, and Oman as a country provides the ‘real’ flavour of Arabia and a genuine warmth from its people, something perhaps less felt in the other mainstream UAE resorts.
